General Information
While a Firearms license is required to purchase and use
your own rifle and ammunition, no Firearms License is
required when shooting in our club, as a visitor you will be
under the supervision of a Licensed club official.
The minimum age for membership is 13 years. There is
no maximum age, Our membership ranges from 13 upwards.
How to obtain a Firearms Licence
You may make an
application for a South Australian Firearms Licence at
any police station by completing an Application for a
Firearms Licence (Form PD303) for class A1 -club use.
You will need to present 100 points of identification.
The Registrar of Firearms, once satisfied that you are a
'fit and proper person' to hold a shooting club member's
licence, will issue you with a letter detailing the
requirements for club training.
EMSBRC has
accredited instructors who will conduct the necessary
training for members to obtain a Firearms Licence for
smallbore rifles.
After your training is complete, the club will issue an
instructor/club certificate which you must forward to
Firearms Branch as justification for your firearms licence
application.

Firearms and
Ammunition
The Firearms Act 1977 specifies the types of firearms
that may be acquired. An Application for a Permit to
Acquire a Firearm (Form PD306) must be sent to Firearms
Branch for approval. There is a mandatory waiting period
of 28 days. The Club must also issue a certificate
supporting firearm purchases for club use.
Ammunition may only be purchased by the holder of a licence for
a category of firearm that is endorsed on that licence.
